Generations is happy to announce our new partnership with Cribari Vineyards as Ohio’s Exclusive Distributor of Cribari Quality Reserve Altar Wine.
The Cribari family has been producing premium, ecclesiastically approved altar wine for over 100 years, and we are proud to bring this rich tradition of quality and consistency to the great State of Ohio.
Cribari Vineyards offers eight varieties of sacramental wine, including:
The vineyard’s Rosato is the most popular variety due to it’s light sweet profile, pink color, which is “easy” on the linens, and smooth finish.
The Light Red is another popular choice for buyers who would like something slightly drier than the Rosato and more of a classic red color, but still sweet enough for any communicant.
The White Rosato, Light Muscat, and Haut Sauterne offer a range of taste profiles for buyers prefer a traditional white sacramental wine. They are also the best options when considering care for purificators and other altar linens.
Though the Golden Angelica and Port are very different in color, they are both distinctly sweet and have become classic altar wines to many buyers across the country.
Buyers looking for a drier altar wine with some body will enjoy Cribari’s Burgundy. The vineyard’s tasting notes include a cedary vanilla overlay to flavors of currant and plum. Though it is at the dry end of the range of Cribari Altar Wines, it has a smooth finish.
For years, Generations was a proud distributor of Altar Wines by The Hammer Company. An Ohio label out of Cleveland, “Hammer Special” was the wine of choice for the state of Ohio for Generations. The Hammer Special Rose was a particularly popular wine and a favorite in all corners of the state. Over a decade ago, the Hammer label was sold to a distributor, who has since decided to end production of the locally famous label, citing a decrease in demand for altar wine during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This news was difficult for the Generations team, as we have always been proud to represent local brands whenever possible. However, when God closes a door, He opens another. We are committed to offer the best products to our customers, especially when the product is specifically used as part of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass – the Eucharist – the source and summit of the Christian life. This commitment drove our search, which culminated in a partnership with Cribari Vineyards, whose care and attention to detail reflects the ultimate high purpose for which the wine is intended.
All Sacramental Wine produced by Cribari Vineyards are prepared in full accordance with Canon Law and have enjoyed a continuous ecclesiastical approbation by the Bishops of Fresno, California for decades. We look forward to distributing these excellent altar wines for decades to come.
