Four & Five Way Medals

A four-way medal is a combination of four other medals that are an integral part of Catholicism. Forming into a cruciform, there is a Sacred Heart Medal, a St. Joseph Medal, a St. Christopher Medal, and the Miraculous Medal. Each of these images represent a story of faith and have their own special meaning. In the middle of the cruciform, there is a dove, symbolizing the Holy Spirit.

The back of the medal is equally as important as the front, as it displays Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and the Miraculous symbol with the phrase “I am Catholic, please call a priest.” This inscription is placed there so that is someone saw it in an emergency, a priest could be called for prayer.

While the origins of the 4-way Medal are not quite known, it has been a been an outward reflection of inward faith for centuries.
