Made by Trappist monks in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia using locally sourced honey. The monks take liquid honey and naturally crystallize it so that it thickens slightly and has the texture of butter, making it soft and spreadable. Adds sweetness and flavor to hot tea and cereal; wonderful when spread on bread, toast, pancakes, bagels or waffles. Creamed honey can be stored at room temperature and has an indefinite shelf-life. Contains only honey and brandy flavor concentrate.
Holy Cross Abbey is a Monastery of the Cistercian Order of the Strict Observance (Trappists) sheltered by the Blue Ridge Mountains in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Cistercians dedicate their life to seeking God according to the sixth-century Rule of Saint Benedict, living the vows of obedience, stability, and conversion of life in the monastic School for the Lord's Service. Manual labor is characteristic of Cistercian life. Their work includes hospitality and care of retreatants in their Guest House and the representation of monastic gifts in their Gift Shop, in addition to the operation of the Monastery Bakery, their chief means of support.
