The Catholic Church has a full year of daily prayers. This is called the Liturgy of the hours, which is a prayer of Psalms that are aligned to the Liturgical year. While religious are obligated to pray these prayers daily, it has also been encouraged for lay people to do so as well. The Liturgy of the Hours consist of prayer sets of prayers each day at different times.
The origins of the Liturgy of the Hours comes from the Jewish tradition, notes in The Acts of the Apostles, of praying three times a day. However, later it was expanded in monasteries to praying seven or eight times a day.
